The Gruffalo Event
A forest themed area made a great reading space for children to talk, read and play. Parents got stuck in reading ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and other favourites to their children. Many children enjoyed dressing up in a Gruffalo costume and scaring those who were walking past. One parent even tried to fit in it, much to her family’s amusement! A competition got children to think of which book they would like to fall into and why. Their entries were written on leaves and attached to branches to make a big tree. Children were able to create there own forest trays of soil and mould figures to go in it with plastacine. This was inspired by the work Coleridge primary school did around The Gruffalo. A selection of their work was on display for everyone to see.
