Ingredients
TOPPING
• 2 oz / 50g butter or margarine
• 4 oz / 100g plain flour
• 2 oz / 50g oats
• 1 oz / 25g sugar
FILLING
• 2 cooking apples
• 2 oz / 50g sultanas or
• 1 oz / 25g sugar
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 190ºC or gas mark 5.
2. Rub the butter or margarine into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs.
3. Stir in the oats and sugar and make sure they are well mixed in.
4. Peel the apples.
5. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the core. Slice thinly.
6. Arrange the apple slices in the ovenproof dish, and then add the sultanas or sugar.
7. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple slices.
8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the apple is soft and the crumble is golden.
