It will be useful to have a read through it and look for potential partnerships that can be created between the other projects and yourselves which will help ensure the sustainability of the project after Inspire Rotherham has finished.
Get Sorted Academy of Music
Project description: Working with young people writing and recording rap songs to achieve an accreditation. They explore the way lyrics are written and produce a book which will include their completed raps, lyrics, poetry and thoughts and a CD will show samples of their best work.

RUFC - Then and Now: Pupils and families will develop research and enquiry skills to explore the history of RUFC by interviewing other people associated with the club in the 1940’s and 1950’s. They will produce work of their research which will be displayed at the From Coal to Goal event. Benefits: Listening, Speaking, writing

TRY Reading with the Titans: The players will be working in schools as reading champions with pupils. Each pupil will receive 6 hours of mentoring from a Titans player. Also—3 family learning events with the Titans. These can be hosted at the schools. Benefits: Listening, reading for pleasure, promoting families to read together.
The Titans are also running a Literacy and Mentoring Holiday Club - This activity will focus on two target groups 4 - 11 years and NEETS. The 4 - 11 year olds activities will incorporate literacy using multi-sports and physical team building activities. The NEET/Pre NEET will act as mentors to the 4 - 11 years providing extra support and in this will help to work towards an ASDAN Volunteering Certificate and become Communication Mentors.

The students for the holiday club will be sourced by the Titans.
Project description: 
Spirit of Youth - This project is about getting primary children into Shakespeare. OMT will work with Rotherham Schools to produce and perform a four night Shakespeare Festival.

Project description: GROW Inspires: Offering a range of family development activities to encourage families to read more and engage in a range of communication activities with their children. Activities will include one to one work, group work and sharing culturally diverse activities in schools. Benefits: Being creative, speaking, reading, writing

Encourages local employers to develop their corporate responsibilities to the wider communities. Provides training to business volunteers and links these to willing schools to work on a one to one basis as Reading Mentors to support pupils in KS2 to improve their literacy skills. Benefits: Reading, speaking, listening.

Community Learning
Project description: Stay and Play: For parents and carers of foundation 1 and 2 children through informal family learning activities. Riddle and Rhyme: For children before they enter foundation 1 and 2, helping families to communicate with their children through nursery rhymes. Benefits: Speaking, listening, being creative, reading.
The Family Learning Team will provide activities which will support the curriculum programme which will incluude children and their families/carers. These activities will help in family enagagement, raising aspirations and early intervention. The activities are: Rowdy Robots, Sherlockbones, Advetures in the park, Stay and Play and Story box.

The Family Learning Team activities will take place in Maltby and Swinton clusters
PSA team
Project description: Find the Line, Read the Sign: Parent Support Advisors will work with parents to increase their literacy skills through reading signs and instructions. Parents will then complete a fun treasure hunt with their children based around the signs and instructions. Benefits: Reading, speaking, being creative, family engagement.
Project description: Kimberworth CC of Learning and Open Minds Theatre Company: Drama, imagery and music for pupils to improve their literacy and communication skills with an impact on writing. Benefits: Performance, speaking, creativity, writing.

PSA team
Project description: Cookery Project: Families, will be supported to develop new ways of communicating together with food. Parents and children are provided with a fabulous book and DVD resource to enable families to take home and create a masterpiece recipe together. Benefits: Reading, being creative, speaking, family enangement
Project description: Literacy focused drama and performance activities raising literacy and communication skills. Planet Story aliens land on earth as they have been attacked by books on their own planet. Pupils need to show the aliens that books are really their friends. Benefits: Performance, speaking and Listening, reading for pleasure.
Northern Lights are also running Written by Rotherham. It is a project that seeks to engage young people and their parents in literacy through the uses of new media technology and more traditional forms of story telling to create an exciting media project.

Radiowaves
Project description: 
This project will involve all inspire Rotherham activities to create a safe online network that showcases work, from blogs, podcasts through to videos of the pupil’s experiences. Developing confident young speakers and all-round communicators. Benefits: Being creative, speaking, performing, writing

Dynamic, dramatic and interactive presentation from an internationally selling local children’s author. Inspiring pupilsto read for pleasure and reaching reluctant readers through their families—promoting families reading together..Benefits: Reading, drama, performance, family engagement

Project description: This activity will be working on children's presenting and debating skills leading up to a visit to the Houses of Parliament. Benefits: Speaking, listening, presenting, questioning.
The NW EAZ will also be running Reading Riot - This programme is a range of reading and developing story opprtunities, using a variety oof techniques to engage children in listening to and enjoying reading.

Reading Riot will be run in Schools in the NW Action Zone.
NW EAZ
Project description: Suitcase Stories: Teachers will work with 5-7 year olds to develop stories from a piece of drama. The stories will be presented to other groups at a story telling festival.

Project description: 
Child Reading Agents: Pupils will be recruited to undertake a ’Reading Mission’ to improve the reading culture of the school and turn resistant readers into reading advocates, developing ‘lively libraries’ with reading friendly spaces. Benefits: Reading, speaking, learning environments.

Little Library Project: A Library role-play area and activities set up in the children’s centre to allow children and parents/carers to engage in imaginative play. A fun way to learn the importance of reading and writing. Benefits: Reading, speaking, writing, family engagement
Project description: 
Provides high quality training for teachers and teaching assistants from a NATE literacy expert using the recently produced DVD resource ‘The Story Spinner’ as the basis for some of the practice. All schools participating will receive the ‘Story Spinner’ resource. Benefits: Being creative/writing

SPACE
Project description: Will work with three schools in Rotherham to gain the Primary Quality Mark and also the Early Years' Quality Mark.

Project description: Right 2 Read - Read 2 Write - This project is seeking to develop an whole school approach to literacy at Thrybergh Comprehensive School which will then be mirrored in all Dalton and Thrybergh primary schools. By doing this it will help schools achieve Every Child a Reader status.

Project description: 
Football and the World Cup - This project is working in conjunction with RUFC Community Sports Trust. The projects aim is to promote family literacy and communication, to encourage parents to support their children's learning and to play an active role in their children's education.

Musical Literacy

A Zimbabwean artist will teach Zimbabwean songs to the children. The same artist will assist the children to write songs inspired by the global book week around the theme of celebrating diversity. The songs will be recorded and a songbook and a CD produced. The artist will also work with the school choir and will help them learn additional songs and he will also do a parents’ workshop on a Saturday morning. A graphic designer will help the children develop the songbook and a celebration launch will be held with parents and children.

Level 2 CPD
Project description: A Level2 qualification for a cohort of Teaching Assistants within school. This will be the first Level 2 qualification achieved by some of the cohort. When the course is completed, Teaching Assistants will be able to put newly acquired skills to use by developing reading programmes for small groups of targeted students.

Development of Language Through investigation and collaboration
Project description: A twenty week course in conjunction with the Saturday morning Winterhill Masterclasses already in existence. This will be aimed at new arrivals from Key Stages 2 and 3 and their parents - those whose language skills need developing in order to demonstrate their cognitive potential. This will be facilitated through a balance of investigative materials and working collaboratively with the existent Art group to produce multi-ethnic picture books based upon a shortlist produced by Gemma Books. A teacher and a mentor will be involved in the process and we will be seeking to establish a centre of good practice open to all interested parties including the region and nationally, to visit and disseminate from. The work achieved to be displayed and celebrated at the Rotherham Children’s Book Awards.
